This is what we do now...

Chewie Media is a small and agile design and development company based out of Vancouver, BC. We scour the internet, magazines, and tubes of the world to bring our customers fresh and exciting options for their projects, from branding and websites all the way to event videography and motion graphics; we exist to make things that excite us as designers. With over a decade of experience in producing media elements, the staff at Chewie Media have been blessed with being able to do something that they are truly passionate about day in and day out.

Branding / Direct RV Service

Direct RV required multiple shareholders to sign off on the logo and marketing materials.  As a new company, their existing brand was non-existant, and so all decisions would be fresh, but there were already...

The three most important questions

The three most important questions to ask yourself when hiring website designers and developers: Most of the times when we are asked about building a website, the first three questions we receive are: 1. When can it be done? 2. Do I need to do anything? 3. How much will it cost? These questions pop out within the first five minutes, and are unfortunately anything but easy to determine.

Your Domain Name and You

Ok, so your domain name is important; it’s quite important actually.  A domain name can tell a potential client a lot about your business, and that’s before they even head to your website.  A domain name will be where someone finds your website, where all of your emails come from, and will appear on every piece of marketing you do from when you get a domain up until… well… ever.

Why you need a website even if you think you don’t

Alright, let’s put aside for a second that a multimedia company is posting a blog entry about why you need a website.  No matter who says it, the statement is true despite how hard we try and avoid it.  Hopefully knowing this will help make the next set of decisions easier, as this is the true purpose of our blog: to make things easier.

This scenario usually plays out in most conversations we have when someone inquires about what we can do.

It’s time to take your website on a date

Let’s set the scene. What’s the most important thing on a date? To make a good first impression. First impressions will affect how you interact with that person for the rest of the date, and will affect what you think about them until they do something to make you think differently, or until the date ends.

You’re guilty of it, and we’re guilty of it.

Look at it sitting there… left out there in the cold with no one to pay attention to it; forgotten about.  It looks like it hasn’t been updated for months.

That poor, poor, website news feed.

You know you’ve heard it many times before, and we’ve been saying it to our clients, but it’s important to update your website to let others know what you’ve been doing as a company.  We’ve all been to a site with a news feed that has had the last update dated from last year and wondered if the site is still alive.

What Software as a Service Means

Don't look now, but we pulled out the street-sign image for this topic. It's a very easy thing to do, say that you offer a full suite of support for a client, especially in the internet age where an email address and a domain name can make you a service-based company online. Unfortunately for clients, these things do not automate the process of actually providing valuable service to the client.

What We Learned at Buildex

While we are still absorbing all of the feedback and information we received over the two days exhibiting at Buildex Vancouver, there are some lessons we learned that may be of use not only in a tradeshow environment, but holds true for pretty much all aspects of business.

Lessons from Buildex Setup

It's Buildex Vancouver time this week, and setup day 2 was today, and that means that it was time for Chewie to get down to the Vancouver Convention Centre West and set up it's booth for the coming Wednesday and Thursday.  The day was shorter than expected initially, but complications delayed what ultimately would have been a very quick setup by Chewie Media.  While some things we could have done without (popup back-wall, I'm looking at you), other things not initially on a checklist for exhibitors became necessities.  Here is a list of items that we found indispensible after
